About Amberley - People, Buildings and Environment

Local historian and author, Robert Hutchinson, has summarised the history of Amberley which can be found on the Amberley Parish Council website.

Amberley is a charming mix of materials, periods and stone walls covered in wild flowers, set beneath the South Downs National Park.  It is loved by hikers, cyclists, artists, wildlife enthusiasts as well as the residents, most of whom, having found Amberley, never leave. See Architecture for a summary of styles and Landscapes or Nature for a glimpse of the area in all seasons.  See Recreation to find out more about local sports.

Amberley is north of the B2139, four miles west of Storrington and five miles north east of Arundel. Google Map showing Amberley West Sussex.
